Perfume Adverts Analysis

In today's seminar, we were given a task to start getting us into the right mindset for the upcoming brief relating to the perfume industry. We were shown and talked through the key components of analysing perfume advertisements to see the differences in areas such as the Narrative or Brand story to Casting, Colour, and Art Direction. All these, as well as other important points, were introduced to give us a good introduction into the industry and understanding the process of it. The main task given to us was then to analyse three different perfume adverts from the brands Versace, Yves Saint Laurent, and Marc Jacobs.



I thought this task at the beginning quite challenging as it is quite a new type of brief and industry that I have not explored much on before but as I kept doing it I started getting more comfortable and curious about each advertisement. I continued doing the two remaining perfume adverts in my workbook using the same key components to analyse each one.




Overall I thought this was a fun, challenging exercise that gave me some insights into a variety of different perfume advertisements.
