I have recently discovered a new visual artist on my Instagram explore page which caught my eye. Her name is Rosie Guinness and she does illustrations of mostly people and patterns but also a lot of fashion drawings such as this coat she drew by Maryam Nassir Zadeh's Ready to Wear Autumn 2019 collection ( See Fig.1). What I like about her illustrations is simplicity. The way the face is very thinly drawn gives me a sense of calmness and ease. I also like the scale of the person she draws and how she uses bold colours and patterns for the outfits but keeps the face very neutral and minimal.

When I looked into her archive I saw that she also has been drawing inspired illustrations by fashion brands such as Prada (See Fig.4) , Balenciaga (See Fig.2) , and Valentino (See Fig.3) that she has been doing for the past few years.

What I think makes her work unique and stand out from other illustrators is the repetition and authenticity that she uses. The face she draws along the outfits is almost always the same face which gives her work a sort of familiarity. I also admire her sense of minimalism and that she rejects the sort of skinny girl figure whimsical style that was often seen in fashion drawings. The women she draws are everyday women that look sort of like someone you could be seeing walking down the streets and are very casual yet confident and are posing very naturally (See Fig. 5,6).

When I scrolled further down her portfolio I found that she also did illustrations for a fashion brand called Jaeger for their upcoming collection in 2018 (See Fig. 7,8,9).

These promote the clothes that the brand has launched in a different way than simply just photographs of models. I think the brand was very smart by using a young illustrator which has quite a unique style of fashion drawings as it gives the brand a fresh new direction to uplift its brand for its consumers. Overall, I have been really admiring her art and will most definitely visit the Fashion Illustration Gallery on my next trip to London to see some of her amazing work in person.
